St. Petersburg, January 19 (Xinhua) — 12,500 new electric passenger cars were sold in Russia in 2025, Sergey Tselikov, director of the analytical agency Avtostat, reported on his Telegram channel on Monday.
S. Tselikov clarified that these figures are 30 percent lower than in 2024, when 17,800 electric vehicles were sold. According to him, sales in 2025 will also be lower than in 2023 (14,100 units). The Chinese brand Zeekr led the way in electric vehicle sales (more than 3,000 units), but sales of this brand in Russia fell by 61 percent over the year.
The agency's director noted that Chinese electric vehicles BYD, Xiaomi, and Geely were rapidly gaining popularity in Russia in 2025. Given their success in their home country of China, it can be assumed that these brands will continue to grow in Russia, he believes.
