BEIJING, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) — Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), held talks with Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly (lower house of parliament) of Pakistan, in Beijing on Monday.
Recalling that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Zhao Leji said that China is willing to work with Pakistan to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, accelerate the building of a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era, and bring more benefits to the peoples of both countries.
China intends to strengthen the alignment of its 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) with Pakistan's economic transformation plan, Uraan Pakistan ("Arise, Pakistan") for 2024-2029, according to the chairman of the NPC Standing Committee.
China is ready to advance the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor 2.0, achieving new results in key areas such as industry, agriculture, mining, transportation, and public welfare, Zhao Leji stated. He emphasized China's support for Pakistan's resolute efforts to combat terrorism.
Zhao Leji added that the NPC is willing to deepen exchanges of experience with the National Assembly of Pakistan in public administration, lawmaking, oversight, and other areas, focusing on topics such as rural revitalization and green development.
S.A. Sadiq, for his part, stated that Pakistan firmly supports China's position on its core interests and key concerns, including Taiwan, Xinjiang and Xi Jinping.
Pakistan hopes to strengthen cooperation with China in areas such as economy, trade, investment, infrastructure construction, people-to-people exchanges and personnel training, S.A.
