BEIJING, January 19 (Xinhua) — China's personal income grew steadily last year amid the ongoing economic recovery, according to data released Monday by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

By the end of 2025, the average per capita disposable income of Chinese residents amounted to 43,377 yuan (about 6,192 US dollars), an increase of 5 percent in nominal terms compared to 2024, according to data from the State Statistical Office.

During the reporting period, China's median per capita disposable income was 36,231 yuan, up 4.4 percent from the previous year.

Moreover, rural income growth outpaced that of urban residents. Specifically, year-on-year, rural disposable income increased by 5.8 percent in nominal terms, while disposable income in cities and urban settlements increased by 4.3 percent in nominal terms.

Meanwhile, in 2025, per capita consumer expenditure in China was 29,476 yuan, an increase of 4.4 percent in nominal terms compared to 2024. In particular, consumer expenditure on services increased by 4.5 percent, accounting for 46.1 percent of total consumer expenditure for the whole of 2025.
