Minsk, January 19 (Xinhua) — Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated on Monday that the opportunity to end the conflict in Ukraine is now greater than ever. The Belarusian leader's press service released the statement.
"We will resolve this war. I think this opportunity exists now more than ever. No matter how much the Ukrainians may resist today, we must still work towards bringing peace to this land," Lukashenko noted.
The Belarusian president also emphasized that Ukrainians need to understand that the territorial issue does not resolve the current conflict. He said that Ukrainian residents will decide for themselves where to live.
"This is what Ukraine should be guided by, not destroying thousands upon thousands of people every day. And the millions who fled Ukraine, who may never return in a time of peace. This is what needs to be addressed first and foremost," the Belarusian president noted.
