OSLO, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) — In direct response to new tariffs announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, eight European countries on Sunday issued a joint statement expressing their "full solidarity" with Denmark and Greenland and warning that American actions on Greenland could create the risk of a "dangerous downward spiral" in transatlantic relations.
The statement, issued by Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom, also clarified that the Arctic Endurance military exercise, currently being conducted jointly with the Danish side, is a pre-agreed event to strengthen common security in the Arctic. –0–
