Hohhot, January 18 (Xinhua) — Five people are reported missing after an explosion at a factory in the western city of Baotou in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, according to preliminary reports. There are currently no casualties, local authorities said.
According to the city's emergency management agency, the explosion occurred around 3:00 PM on Sunday at the Baogang United Steel sheet rolling mill. The blast caused noticeable tremors in nearby areas.
The number of victims is currently being clarified.
Several people were reportedly rescued after rescue teams from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Baotou City arrived at the scene.
