Cairo, January 17 (Xinhua) — Iran has "again" defeated the United States and Israel and "eliminated the sedition" fomented by Washington and Tel Aviv, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Saturday.
These statements, published on A. Khamenei's official page on the social media platform X, came after Iranian authorities appeared to have brought the situation under control following several weeks of nationwide protests.
The Supreme Leader also described US President Donald Trump as a "criminal" for his administration's support for the demonstrations, accusing Washington of inflicting economic and social harm on the Iranian people.
"America's goal is to absorb Iran," Khamenei emphasized. "Iran will not engage in war, but it will not refrain from punishing those responsible for unrest both domestically and internationally," he added.
