TIANJIN, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) — The Tianjin Shenlong Bencao Research Institute of Health and Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan recently signed a memorandum of cooperation in Tianjin, northern China, aimed at deepening cooperation in the field of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) between the two sides.

Tianjin Shenlong Bencao Research Institute of Health and Traditional Chinese Medicine is mainly engaged in systematic research on traditional Chinese herbalism and medical specimens, and has many years of experience in the field of TCM and the prevention and treatment of gallstone disease.

According to the signed document, medical experts from China and Uzbekistan plan to conduct scientific research into the etiology, prevention, and treatment of cholelithiasis, promote the integration of TCM and modern medical technologies, and develop innovative drugs and treatments adapted to local needs.

The parties intend to promote the exchange of medical services and scientific research, as well as work together to create teams of highly qualified specialists in the field of medicine and healthcare.

The Chinese side also plans to establish a research institute in Uzbekistan, through which both sides will jointly cultivate and analyze medicinal herbs of Chinese medicine.

Qiao Te, Director of the Shenlong Bencao Research Institute, noted that in the future, the institute's team hopes to develop cooperation with more enterprises and organizations in SCO member states, as well as to facilitate the formation of a regional healthcare network and the promotion of technologies for the prevention and treatment of gallstone disease.

Tianjin is actively expanding cooperation with SCO member states in the field of TCM. In 2024, Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine signed a memorandum of cooperation with three Uzbek universities to develop collaboration in areas such as education, scientific research, and exchanges in TCM.
