BEIJING, January 16 (Xinhua) — China and Canada have reached concrete agreements to properly resolve trade issues related to electric vehicles, steel and aluminum products, Canadian canola, agricultural products, and aquatic products, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on Friday.

According to the ministry's statement, in order to implement the important agreements reached between the leaders of China and Canada, both sides have recently held a series of intensive consultations at various levels, focusing on key economic and trade issues of mutual interest.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, the two sides reached a positive consensus on increasing the frequency of direct flights in both directions, improving the business environment, and inspection and quarantine procedures for agricultural products.

The ministry noted that this marks an important step in resolving concerns in bilateral trade and represents a new starting point for deepening trade and economic cooperation.

In the future, both sides will jointly implement the hard-won results of these consultations, intensify the final approval of details, clarify deadlines, develop action plans, expedite the completion of relevant internal procedures, and facilitate the speedy implementation of the results, the ministry clarified.

The two sides will make full use of the mechanism of the China-Canada Joint Commission on Economic and Trade to further expand cooperation, resolve issues, overcome differences, and promote the healthy, stable, and sustainable development of China-Canada trade and economic ties, the statement said.
