Beijing, January 16 (Xinhua) — The total inbound tourist flow to the Chinese capital reached 5.48 million in 2025, up 39 percent from the previous year, according to data released Friday by the Beijing Administration of Culture and Tourism.

Of these, 923,500 person-times were reported by residents of the Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, and Taiwan, and 4.557 million person-times were reported by foreign citizens. Compared to the previous year, these two indicators increased by 26.7 percent and 41.8 percent, respectively.

In 2025, Asians visited Beijing 2.01 million times, Europeans 1.562 million times, and Americans 641,000 times. These figures increased by 43%, 47.9%, and 35.6%, respectively.

According to statistics, inbound tourism spending in Beijing increased by 44.7% year-on-year to 50.56 billion yuan (approximately US$7.21 billion) in 2025.

Beijing authorities have expanded services for incoming tourists, simplifying visa and customs clearance, payments, shopping, and tax refunds. The city has also introduced innovative tourism offerings, including 10 themed tourist routes and tours of World Heritage sites.

According to the department, in 2026, Beijing plans to further improve services for incoming tourists and develop new offerings related to intangible cultural heritage and traditional Chinese medicine. -0-
