Changsha, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) — China's first light sport aircraft (LSA) equipped with domestically developed avionics and engines was delivered to a customer on Friday.
The Aurora SA60L was developed by Starair Aircraft Co., Ltd., headquartered in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province, central China. In August 2025, the aircraft received its airworthiness certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
Starair Aircraft Co., Ltd. employee Liu Pengfei said the aircraft was ordered by Zhonghao /Chongqing/ General Aviation Co., Ltd.
The sports aircraft completed a 25-hour factory test flight, covering 31 locations. Based on parameters such as thrust-to-weight ratio, fuel consumption, vibration, and exterior design technologies, the domestically produced engine demonstrated good performance.
Xiao Huangxing, general manager of Starair's manned aircraft division, noted that the Aurora is equipped with Chinese-made intelligent platforms and data management platforms.
Engines and avionics account for a significant portion of the LSA's overall cost. The delivery of the Aurora will significantly improve the competitiveness of Chinese-made LSAs in the market, he added.
