Beijing, January 15 (Xinhua) — The first passenger flight from Kashgar Prefecture in northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, was launched Thursday morning. Its successful launch ended the absence of direct passenger flights between Kashgar and Tashkent, and reduced travel time between the two destinations to approximately two hours.

According to the online news portal chinanews.com.cn, the new flight 7Q3166/3167 will be operated once a week in both directions by an A320 aircraft.

The launch of the new flight, along with the visa-free regime launched last year between China and Uzbekistan, has fueled widespread optimism about increased human exchanges between the two countries. Several travel agencies in Kashgar report receiving numerous inquiries from local residents seeking to take advantage of the new flight for short weekend trips to the Central Asian region.

By the end of 2025, Kashgar Lining International Airport had opened more than 90 passenger and cargo air routes, serving 46 Chinese cities and 5 overseas cities. -0-
