Beijing, January 15 (Xinhua) — China opposes the threat or use of force in international relations, the imposition of one's will on others, and a return to the "law of the jungle" in the world. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated this Thursday during a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi.

As Wang Yi, also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, pointed out, China consistently advocates compliance with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and international law.

During the conversation, A. Araghchi informed Wang Yi about the latest events in Iran, emphasizing that the recent unrest was provoked by external forces and that the situation has now stabilized.

Iran is prepared to resist external interference while keeping the door to dialogue open, the Iranian Foreign Minister said, expressing hope that China will play an even more significant role in ensuring peace and stability in the region.

Wang Yi, for his part, expressed China's confidence that the Iranian government and people will unite, overcome difficulties, maintain stability in the country, and protect their legitimate rights and interests.

The Chinese diplomat also expressed hope that all parties concerned would cherish peace, maintain restraint and resolve differences through dialogue, adding that China is ready to play a constructive role in this.
