Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, is a renowned historical and cultural Chinese city. It is located in the central Yangtze River Delta region. The city covers a total area of 8,488 square kilometers.
The ancient city of Suzhou was built in 514 BC and has a 2,500-year history. The city is home to 539 cultural monuments and landmarks. Suzhou has long been called an "earthly paradise" due to its mild climate, fertile soil, and abundant resources.
Suzhou is also known as the "Eastern Water City." Water accounts for 42% of the city's total area. The city is home to numerous lakes and rivers. The city is crossed by the world's longest artificial canal, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.
