Astana, January 14 (Xinhua) — In Kazakhstan, freight transportation volumes by all modes of transport increased by 7.9 percent in 2025 compared to 2024, reaching 1.1 billion tons. Enterprise revenues from freight transportation reached 5.7 trillion tenge (approximately $11.2 billion), the Kazinform news agency reported on Wednesday, citing data from the Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan.

Rail transport accounted for the largest share of freight traffic, accounting for 40.1 percent of the total. During the reporting period, 466.7 million tons of freight were transported by rail, 6.8 percent more than the previous year. Revenue from rail transport amounted to 2.2 trillion tenge.

In 2025, road transport transported 352.7 million tons of freight, and revenue in this segment reached 1.4 trillion tenge. Compared to the previous year, the volume of road freight transportation increased by 2.8%.

Pipeline freight volumes totaled 339.8 million tons, generating 1.9 trillion tenge in revenue. This segment saw a 15% year-on-year increase in transportation volumes.

Air cargo transportation reached 30.1 thousand tons, an increase of 8.1 percent year-on-year. Enterprise revenue from air transportation amounted to 18.9 billion tenge.

Freight turnover for the 12 months of 2025 amounted to 584.3 billion ton-kilometers, which is 13.6 percent higher than the 2024 figure. –0–
