SHENZHEN, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) — The first-ever payment settlement for electric vehicle-to-grid (EV-to-grid) power transmission was completed in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen on Tuesday, marking a major milestone in vehicle-to-grid (V2G) power transmission.

This was implemented as part of a pilot project by the Shenzhen Electricity Bureau of China Southern Power Grid. The project allowed an electric vehicle owner named Li to earn approximately 15 yuan (approximately $2.10) by discharging approximately 20 kWh of electricity during peak hours a month earlier.

Shenzhen has become one of the first Chinese cities to pilot large-scale vehicle-to-grid connectivity using the V2G scheme.

The Shenzhen Electricity Bureau of China Southern Power Grid said V2G is an innovative solution to address the conflict between the rapid growth of new energy vehicles and the capacity limitations of Shenzhen's power distribution grid. -0-
