LONDON, January 14 (Xinhua) — British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said on Tuesday that the UK will introduce legislation "to impose full and additional sanctions and sectoral measures" against Iran.
Speaking in the House of Commons, she said "additional measures will be targeted at finance, energy, transport, software and other important industries."
Iran's Foreign Ministry summoned the ambassadors of Britain, Germany, France and Italy on Monday after their governments expressed support for protests in the country, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.
Late last month, protests erupted across Iran. Iranian officials showed ambassadors "video evidence of violent rioters," claiming these actions went beyond peaceful demonstrations.
