BEIJING, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) — At the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will pay an official visit to China from Wednesday to Saturday.
M. Carney was born in 1965 in Fort Smith, Canada. He received a BA in economics from Harvard University, an MA in economics from Oxford University, and a PhD in economics from Oxford University.
Previously, he held such senior positions as Governor of the Bank of Canada, Chairman of the Financial Stability Board, Governor of the Bank of England, Vice Chairman of Brookfield Asset Management, and Chairman of Bloomberg LP. He also served as the United Nations Special Envoy for Climate Action and Financial Affairs.
In March 2025, M. Carney was elected leader of the Liberal Party of Canada and became prime minister. Following the general election in April of last year, he again assumed the office of prime minister of Canada.
