TAIYUAN, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) — China on Tuesday launched its new remote sensing satellite, Yaogan-5001, into space from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in North China's Shanxi Province.
According to the cosmodrome, the spacecraft was launched at 10:16 pm Beijing time using a modified version of the Long March-6 launch vehicle and successfully entered its designated orbit.
The satellite will be used to survey national lands, assess crop yields, and prevent and mitigate natural disasters.
The current launch was the 624th flight mission for the Long March series of launch vehicles and China's first successful orbital launch in 2026. –0–
