Tehran, January 12 (Xinhua) — The situation in Iran is "under complete control" following the outbreak of violence related to protests over the weekend, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Monday during a meeting with foreign diplomats.
As A. Araghchi noted, the nationwide protests in the country "have taken on a violent and bloody character" to give US President Donald Trump a "pretext" to intervene.
According to Iran's Foreign Minister, Donald Trump's warning of military action against Tehran if protests escalate into bloodshed has emboldened "terrorists" to attack protesters and security forces in an attempt to provoke foreign intervention. "We are prepared for war, but also for dialogue," he said.
A. Araghchi said Iran had obtained evidence of US and Israeli involvement in domestic "terrorist activities," including a video showing weapons being distributed to protesters, and that authorities would soon publish confessions from detainees.
