Beijing, January 12 (Xinhua) — The first international passenger flight on the Kashgar-Tashkent, Uzbekistan, route will officially depart on January 14, the China Daily newspaper reported, citing information from the Kashgar Prefectural Commerce Department in northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
The opening of this route is expected to end the long-standing absence of direct air service between the two cities, creating an efficient and convenient air bridge for bilateral humanitarian exchanges and trade and economic cooperation between China and Uzbekistan.
The inaugural flight will utilize an Airbus A320 configured for 180 seats. Flight number 7Q3166/3167 is scheduled to operate one roundtrip flight per week. This direct route will significantly reduce travel time, which previously required a transfer.
Uzbekistan is an important trading partner for the Kashgar Prefecture. In recent years, the level of interaction and cooperation between China and Uzbekistan has steadily increased. On June 1, 2025, an agreement between the governments of China and Uzbekistan on mutual visa waiver officially entered into force, allowing citizens of both countries with valid ordinary passports to enter the two countries visa-free for stays of up to 30 days at a time.
Against this favorable backdrop, the opening of a direct Kashgar-Tashkent air route will further boost demand for tourism and business travel and provide new impetus to deepening cooperation in various fields.
