Brussels, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) — European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said on Monday she had ordered that all diplomatic staff and other representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran be banned from entering any European Parliament buildings or premises.

The decision came amid reports of clashes between security forces and protesters during protests that erupted across Iran late last month and escalated into nationwide unrest.

According to Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency, at least 111 Iranian security forces have been killed in unrest over the past two weeks. No official death toll among protesters has been released.
