Astana, January 10 /Xinhua/ — By the end of 2025, Kazakhstan's clearance rate for particularly serious crimes reached 98 percent, according to Interior Minister Yerzhan Sadenov, quoted by the Kazinform news agency.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a decrease in the number of serious and especially serious crimes, including murder, grievous bodily harm, robbery, theft, and hooliganism, was observed in 2025. A decrease in crime in public places and on the streets was also reported, as well as a reduction in the number of crimes involving the use of weapons and repeat offenses by previously convicted individuals.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified that in 2025, more than 2,700 crimes from previous years were solved. Police detained over 1,600 wanted individuals, and the whereabouts of over 20,000 missing persons were established.
The agency reported that approximately 60 billion tenge (US$117.6 million) in damages have been paid to victims. More than 17 million administrative violations have been prevented. More than 9,000 children and adolescents have been included in mentoring, sports, and prevention programs. More than 23,000 drivers have been arrested for drunk driving.
In the fight against organized and transnational crime, 78 criminal cases have been opened for the creation and management of organized criminal groups, including 10 cases involving transnational channels. 299 leaders and members of criminal organizations have been prosecuted, and over 2,500 weapons have been seized from illegal circulation.
The volume of seized narcotics increased to 31.7 tons, and 109 drug labs were dismantled, including 13 producing synthetic drugs. A comprehensive plan to combat drug addiction and drug trafficking for 2026-2028 was approved.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 84.5 million fraudulent calls have been blocked, 13 call centers, including those located abroad, have been shut down, and 56 criminal cases for assisting online fraudsters are under investigation as part of efforts to combat cybercrime. The signing of the UN Convention on Cybercrime has also been reported.
