JAKARTA, January 10 (Xinhua) — A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia's Talaud Islands on Saturday, the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency reported.
According to the agency, the earthquake occurred at 21:58 local time, its epicenter was located 52 km southeast of the administrative center of the Talaud archipelago, Melonguane in North Sulawesi province, and the hypocenter was at a depth of 17 km.
The epicenter of the tremors was recorded at a point with coordinates of 3.64 degrees north latitude and 126.98 degrees east longitude.
