Tbilisi, January 9 (Xinhua) — The European Union and the United States remain the main sources of remittances to Georgia, according to a November report by the National Bank of Georgia (Central Bank).
According to the regulator, the main contributor to the growth in remittance volumes was income from European Union countries, which increased by 14.2 percent year-on-year. Remittances from the United States also continued to grow, increasing by 15.5 percent.
According to the report, overall in November, the volume of remittances to Georgia increased by 11.9 percent year-on-year to reach $298.4 million, while the volume of funds transferred from the country abroad increased by 10.3 percent to $36.8 million. –0–
