Beijing, January 9 (Xinhua) — On Tuesday, the first freight train since early 2026 launched as part of the China-Europe international rail freight service from Fuqing, a city under the administrative jurisdiction of Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province, eastern China. The trains, carrying 100 standard containers (TEU) of goods manufactured in Fujian Province, will arrive in Moscow, the capital of the Russian Federation.
According to local media, in 2025, customs and railway authorities coordinated efforts to further simplify customs clearance procedures and reduce cargo delays, ensuring increased efficiency in customs clearance and logistics.
Fuzhou is a key logistics hub for opening up to the outside world. Since July 2022, when the first China-Europe train departed from Fuzhou, the total value of cargo carried has exceeded 1.3 billion yuan. The train routes connect Fuzhou with 15 cities in six countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, including Russia, Poland, and Uzbekistan.
In the three years since the launch of China-Europe freight trains from Fuzhou, a total of 83 such trains have been handled, carrying 6,794 TEU of cargo with a total value of nearly 1.362 billion yuan.
According to official data, by the end of 2025, the number of China-Europe train departures was 31, and the total volume of cargo transported by them was 2,164 TEU.
