BEIJING, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) — Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Thursday sent a congratulatory message to Thongloun Sisoulith on his re-election as general secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee.
As Xi Jinping noted in his message, since the 11th National Congress of the LPRP, the Central Committee of this party has united the Lao people and guided them in actively seeking a path of socialist development suited to national conditions, overcoming difficulties and persistently moving forward, achieving a number of important achievements in party building, economic development, improving people's livelihood and expanding foreign exchanges.
The successful holding of the 12th Congress of the LPRL is of great significance for continuing the glorious traditions and opening up new prospects for the development of the Party and socialism in Laos, the Chinese leader pointed out.
He expressed the hope that under the firm leadership of the LPRP Central Committee, with Thongloun Sisoulith at its core, the Lao Party and the Lao people will maintain unity, make every effort to successfully implement all the goals and tasks set at the 12th Congress of the LPRP, and continuously open up new horizons in the Lao socialist cause, boldly and resolutely moving forward towards the goal of the centenary of the founding of the LPRP in 2055.
Xi Jinping stated that China and Laos are friendly socialist neighbors, connected by shared mountains and rivers. He stated that in recent years, thanks to the joint efforts of both sides, China-Laos relations have entered their best period in history, and the construction of a strategically important China-Laos community with a shared future is steadily deepening, acquiring concrete meaning, and has already yielded a number of significant results.
As the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee emphasized, under the new circumstances, when the regional architecture is deeply connected with the changes taking place in the world, he is ready, together with the General Secretary of the LPRL Central Committee, to strengthen the strategic guidance for the development of China-Laos relations, develop the traditional friendship between the two countries, deepen the exchange of experience in party and state governance, expand practical cooperation in various fields and promote the progressive advancement of the construction of a China-Laos community with a shared future towards the goals of high standards, high quality and high level.
