BEIJING, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) — Mainland China on Wednesday added two people, Liu Shifang and Zheng Yingyao, to its list of stubborn "Taiwan independence" supporters, bringing the total to 14, State Council Taiwan Affairs Office spokesperson Chen Binhua said at a regular press conference Wednesday.

Liu Shifang and Zheng Yingyao are officials of the Democratic Progressive Party of Taiwan. Liu Shifang heads Taiwan's internal affairs department, while Zheng Yingyao is responsible for education.

"Taiwan independence" supporters are criminals and outlaws who seek to divide the country and sabotage cross-strait relations, as well as traitors to the Chinese nation who harm the interests of their compatriots, Chen Binhua said.

“We will take all necessary measures to punish them in accordance with the law and hold them accountable for life,” he emphasized.

Chen Binhua also reported that the list of accomplices of separatists seeking “Taiwan independence” and involved in the persecution of Taiwanese compatriots currently includes 12 people. -0-
