BEIJING, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) — The second China (Jilin) Documentary Photo and Video Conference opened in Jilin City, northeast China's Jilin Province, Wednesday, bringing together Chinese and foreign documentary filmmakers, representatives of production and broadcasting organizations, and industry experts.

According to the Zhongguo Xinwenshe news agency website, this event aims to create a key platform for cultural exchanges and industrial transactions in the field of documentary photography and video materials, covering Northeast Asia.

According to the organizers, the event will include a pre-sale of documentary film ideas, project presentations, international dialogue and exchange, and more. The agenda for this event will be both rich and compact.

Several international exhibitions will be held within its framework, which has attracted representatives of Chinese and foreign media to participate in the dialogue.

At the opening ceremony of the event, the list of key documentaries of Jilin Province in 2026 was released, with special attention paid to the documentary series "Wu Dacheng".

Since the call for proposals was announced in December 2025, a total of 121 applications have been received. Following a professional review and selection process, 17 projects were successfully shortlisted, the organizers reported.

These works cover topics such as social reality, history and culture, and ecosystem protection. The projects are presented by authors from various countries, including Mongolia and Russia, the organizers added.
