Tokyo, January 6 (Xinhua) — A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck Shimane Prefecture in western Japan on Tuesday. No tsunami warning was issued, the Japan Meteorological Agency reported.
According to him, the earthquake occurred at 10:18 local time in eastern Shimane Prefecture. The hypocenter was located at a depth of approximately 10 kilometers. In the hardest-hit areas of Shimane and Tottori Prefectures, the magnitude of the tremors was 5 on the seven-point scale used in Japan.
The epicenter of the tremors was recorded at a point with coordinates 35.3 degrees north latitude and 133.2 degrees east longitude. –0–
