China's civil aviation sector to see steady growth in 2025

BEIJING, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) — China's civil aviation sector developed at a stable pace in 2025, with all key indicators showing strong growth, according to data released Tuesday at the China Civil Aviation Working Conference.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) announced that the sector's total turnover last year amounted to 164.08 billion tonne-kilometers, an increase of 10.5 percent year-on-year.

The data also showed that in 2025, the volume of passenger transportation reached 770 million person-times, which is 5.5 percent more than the previous year, and the volume of freight and mail transportation reached 10.17 million tons, an increase of 13.3 percent year-on-year.

At the meeting, UGA Director Song Zhiyong stated that the sector maintained its overall stable development trend in 2025, and key goals and objectives were achieved.

According to him, during the reporting period, international passenger traffic in the country increased by 21.6 percent year-on-year, while passenger traffic to Central Asia, West Asia, Africa, and Latin America increased by 59.3 percent, 33.4 percent, 39 percent, and 108.6 percent, respectively, last year.

In 2025, the sector's total profit was RMB 6.5 billion (about US$926.28 million), indicating improved performance.

In 2026, the country's total civil aviation turnover is expected to reach 175 billion tonne-kilometers, passenger traffic – 810 million person-times, and the volume of cargo and mail transportation – 10.7 million tons, predicted Song Zhiyong. -0-
