HANGZHOU, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) — The cargo throughput of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port in east China's Zhejiang Province exceeded 1.4 billion tonnes in 2025, ranking first in the world for the 17th consecutive year, the port authority said Monday.
The port's throughput capacity has been significantly increased thanks to the reliable operation of its two large container terminals and transshipment terminal, the port noted.
It is noteworthy that the Tiaozhoumen Canal, the port's second deep-water canal with a capacity of 300,000 tons, began operating in December 2025.
As a key hub of the 21st-century Maritime Silk Road, the Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan continues to expand its global reach. By the end of 2025, the port will operate over 300 container shipping routes, connecting over 700 ports in over 200 countries and regions.
In recent years, Zhejiang Province, an economically developed province on China's east coast, has unveiled a series of policies aimed at enhancing the competitiveness and global influence of the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port. -0-
