Tbilisi, January 5 (Xinhua) — The Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a $50 million loan agreement with Georgia's Rustavi Azot Joint Stock Company to support the modernization of the company's production facilities using energy-efficient technologies, the ADB office in Georgia announced on Monday.

The project includes upgrading Rustavi Azot's ammonia and high-density ammonium nitrate production facilities, as well as implementing modern solutions aimed at reducing energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.

The project is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by at least 120 kilotonnes per year, strengthen fertilizer supply chains, and increase resilience to extreme weather conditions.
