BEIJING, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) — China's railways carried 48.09 million passengers during the three-day New Year holiday from Jan. 1 to 3, according to data from the China State Railway Corporation (CSRC).
Passenger traffic peaked on the first day of 2026, when 18.56 million trips were made on rail transport across the country, the State Railway Committee reported on Sunday.
To cope with the sharp increase in passenger traffic during the holidays, measures were taken to increase the capacity of the railway network, namely by launching additional trains and effectively utilizing the potential of the high-speed railways (HSR), which were recently put into operation. -0-
