BEIJING, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) — China's State Council has unveiled an action plan aimed at significantly enhancing the country's solid waste recycling capacity.
The plan prioritizes the treatment of solid waste that directly impacts public health and industrial safety, calls for the accelerated establishment of long-term integrated waste management mechanisms, and decisive measures to curb the growth of solid waste volumes.
According to the plan, by 2030, the annual volume of integrated recycling of large volumes of solid waste should reach 4.5 billion tons, and the annual volume of reuse of primary renewable resources should reach 510 million tons.
The plan sets out detailed measures to improve resource utilization, strengthen control over and reduction of solid waste sources, standardize the collection, transportation and storage of solid waste, and enhance capacity for safe disposal. –0–
