Pyongyang, January 4 (Xinhua) — North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un visited a major military plant on Saturday to inspect the production of tactical guided weapons, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Sunday.

Kim Jong-un praised the plant's multi-purpose precision weapons, the report said.

"The potential military and technological power of our tactical guided weapons system is sufficiently effective in military terms to replace even the multiple launch rocket system in the future," KCNA quoted Kim Jong-un as saying.

The North Korean leader emphasized that the country's main military units will be routinely equipped with this weapon system starting in the first half of this year. In this regard, "it is necessary to increase current production capacity by approximately 2.5 times," the statement said.
