Moscow, January 3 (Xinhua) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez spoke in favor of preventing further escalation and finding a way out through dialogue during a telephone conversation on Saturday, according to a statement published on the Russian Foreign Ministry's website.
"S. Lavrov expressed strong solidarity with the people of Venezuela in the face of armed aggression. Russia will continue to support the Bolivarian Government's course aimed at protecting the country's national interests and sovereignty," the statement reads.
The statement stated that during the conversation, a mutual commitment to further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Venezuela was expressed. –0–
