SHENZHEN, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) — China's leading new energy vehicle (NEV) maker BYD sold about 2.26 million all-electric vehicles in 2025, surpassing Tesla in global sales of such vehicles.

During the reporting period, American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla sold approximately 1.63 million all-electric vehicles.

BYD's total NEV sales last year amounted to approximately 4.6 million units.

BYD announced that it has expanded its market share in China and increased sales abroad. The automaker's business in Europe is growing successfully, and the company is actively developing the Latin American and Southeast Asian markets.
