Moscow, January 3 (Xinhua) – Russia is extremely alarmed by reports of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife being evacuated from Venezuela and calls on US authorities to immediately clarify the situation. This was stated in a statement published on the Russian Foreign Ministry's website on Saturday.
“We are extremely alarmed by reports that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife were forcibly removed from the country as a result of today’s US aggression,” the statement said.
"We call for immediate clarification of this situation. Such actions, if they actually took place, constitute an unacceptable infringement on the sovereignty of an independent state, respect for which is a key principle of international law," the Russian Foreign Ministry noted.
