BEIJING, January 3 (Xinhua) — China is deeply shocked and strongly condemns the US's flagrant use of force against a sovereign state and Washington's actions against its president, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Saturday.
The United States reportedly launched military strikes against Venezuela, after which American President Donald Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social that the United States had "successfully" carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolás Maduro, who, along with his wife, was captured and "taken out of the country."
The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson noted that such hegemonic actions by the US seriously violate international law, trample on Venezuela's sovereignty, and threaten peace and security in Latin America and the Caribbean, and China firmly opposes them.
