Geneva, January 2 (Xinhua) — The death toll from the fire at a Swiss bar remained unchanged, but the number of injured has risen to 119, with 113 of those identities confirmed, Valais Canton Police Chief Frédéric Giesler announced at a press conference on Friday.

Police are still working to confirm the identities of the remaining six victims of the fire that broke out at a bar in the Crans-Montana ski resort in southwestern Switzerland. It was previously reported that more than 110 people were injured in the tragedy.

As F. Giesler noted, 71 of the victims are Swiss citizens, 14 are French, and 11 are Italian. The citizenship of another 14 people has not yet been determined.

He added that identification of approximately 40 victims killed in the fire is still ongoing. "This is our priority," the police chief noted.

During a press conference, the Chairman of the Canton of Valais, Matthias Reynard, stated that approximately 50 victims have already been transported or will soon be transported for treatment to specialized centers in other European countries.
