WASHINGTON, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) — The U.S. administration on Tuesday announced sanctions against 10 entities and individuals based in Iran and Venezuela, accusing Tehran of supplying conventional weapons to Caracas and threatening U.S. interests throughout the Western Hemisphere, including U.S. territory.
In separate statements, the U.S. State Department and Treasury Department said a sanctioned Venezuelan company was involved in the sale of Iranian-made combat unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) worth millions of dollars.
Other sanctioned entities and individuals were accused of supporting procurement networks linked to Iran's drone and ballistic missile programs, the statements said.
The sanctions came a day after US President Donald Trump warned at a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Florida that the United States would support renewed strikes if Iran attempted to revive its ballistic missile program.
In response to Trump's remarks, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warned on social media on Tuesday that his country would respond harshly to any act of aggression. –0–
