Astana, December 31 (Xinhua) — Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev reaffirmed his firm support for the one-China principle during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Han Chunlin. This was reported on Wednesday by the Chinese Embassy in Kazakhstan.
As Y. Kosherbayev noted, amid the current tensions around the Taiwan Strait, Kazakhstan consistently adheres to the one-China principle, views Taiwan as an integral part of Chinese territory, and recognizes the Chinese government as the sole legitimate government representing all of China. He emphasized that Kazakhstan strongly supports the Chinese government's efforts to protect state sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The parties noted with satisfaction that political trust between Kazakhstan and China continued to strengthen this year, and practical cooperation in all areas yielded significant results. They emphasized the need to fully implement the important agreements reached by the two heads of state and promote bilateral cooperation to a new level.
During the meeting, the parties also exchanged views on issues of international and regional interest. –0–
