Almaty, December 31 (Xinhua) — An Air China plane departed from Kazakhstan's Almaty International Airport to Chengdu Tianfu International Airport in China on Tuesday evening, marking the launch of the first direct air service between Almaty and Chengdu.
The new route marks the first direct air service connecting Kazakhstan with southwestern China. Flights operate twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, under flight numbers CA455/456, on Airbus A320 passenger aircraft.
At the launch ceremony for the inaugural flight, Chen Zhaozhen, General Director of Air China's Almaty office, expressed hope that the opening of the new air route will promote cooperation between China and Kazakhstan in the fields of tourism, culture, and education, and will also serve to deepen trade and economic ties and humanitarian exchanges between the two countries, giving new impetus to international cooperation and regional connectivity within the framework of the joint implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.
