Beijing, December 30 (Xinhua) — China-US relations are among the most important bilateral ties in the modern world, with the two countries' strategic choices influencing the direction of world history. This was stated by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday.
Speaking at a symposium on the international situation and Chinese diplomacy in 2025, Wang Yi, also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, said that China and the United States should seek ways to address each other's concerns on the basis of equality, respect and mutual benefit to find a proper way for the two major powers to coexist.
According to him, over the past year, China has maintained a firm and clear position on significant fundamental issues, resolutely stood its ground and did not give in one iota on issues affecting China's fundamental interests.
At the same time, China is conducting exchanges and seeking cooperation with the American side, calling on the latter to perceive China rationally and objectively, and to resolve mutual differences through consultations and dialogue, the diplomat added.
Wang Yi noted that the development of China-US relations over the past year has shown that the ability to respect each other, peacefully coexist, and cooperate mutually for the benefit of the entire world is a key factor in the stable development of China-US relations.
China and the United States gain from cooperation and lose from confrontation, he stressed, adding that an arrogant attitude is unacceptable and a discrepancy between words and actions is unacceptable. –0–
