NANJING, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) — The People's Liberation Army's Eastern Zone Combat Command (PLAEC) on Monday carried out regional patrol, air confrontation and information support operations in the airspace southwest of Taiwan Island as part of a drill.
The exercises involved fighter jets, early warning aircraft, electronic warfare aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles, the PLAAF's Air Defense Command said in a statement.
The operations are designed to test the armed forces' ability to coordinate the actions of various types of aircraft and gain air superiority. -0-
