KABUL, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) — The Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) has distributed over 22 million Afghanis (over 333,000 U.S. dollars) in cash assistance to families who recently returned to the eastern Ghazni province, local news portal Tolo news reported on Sunday.
According to the report, approximately 1,300 families returning from neighboring Pakistan and Iran received financial support in the province. Each family received 17,000 Afghanis to meet their immediate needs.
The repatriates welcomed the assistance as it would help them cope with the difficulties they face during the resettlement process.
Thousands of Afghan families continue to return from neighboring countries, many facing dire needs for basic services and livelihoods. In response, ARCS has launched several humanitarian initiatives in various provinces to support returnees during this critical period.
