KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) — Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak was sentenced on Friday to 15 years in prison on all four counts of abuse of power in a case related to state sovereign wealth fund 1MDB (1Malaysia Development Berhad).

The country's Supreme Court also imposed a fine of 11.4 billion ringgit (US$2.82 billion) on the former prime minister.

Najib Razak was sentenced to five years in prison without a fine for 21 counts of money laundering.

Presiding Judge Collin Lawrence Sequera ordered all prison terms to run concurrently.

In July 2020, Najib Razak was sentenced to 12 years in prison and fined 210 million ringgit (US$44.4 million) for abuse of power in the case of SRC International, a former unit of 1MDB.

In February last year, the former prime minister's prison sentence was reduced from 12 to six years, and the fine was reduced to 50 million ringgit (US$10.6 million). –0–
