BEIJING, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) — Japan's new defense budget proposal reveals the sinister intentions of Japan's right-wing forces, which seek to advance the country's remilitarization and revive militarism, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said Friday.

He made this statement at a regular departmental press conference, commenting on the Japanese government's approval of the country's draft defense budget for the 2026 fiscal year, which is a record amount of more than 9 trillion yen (about 58 billion US dollars).

"Despite the international community's continued criticism of Japan's military and security policies, Japan plans to significantly increase its defense budget again instead of reflecting on its actions and exercising restraint," Lin Jian noted. -0-
