In 2025, according to an agreement between the Moscow and Moscow region governments, 25 commuter bus routes were planned to open in the northwestern and western directions. The last two will open on December 27. They will connect the Khovrino metro station with the Levoberezhny microdistrict of Khimki, Moscow Region.
"Following Sergei Sobyanin's instructions, we are developing the Moscow public transport network in conjunction with the Moscow Region Government. By 2025, we have set a goal of launching 25 new routes. This Saturday, the last two will connect the capital with the nearest suburbs and replace the regional carrier. The route will be operated by modern, large, Russian-made buses equipped with everything necessary for comfortable and safe travel for all categories of passengers. We will post information about new fares and services in advance along the routes," said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
Suburban buses No. 344 and 344c, operated by the regional carrier, will no longer operate and will be replaced by new buses No. 1344 and 1346. These buses will adhere to Moscow public transportation standards, including convenient and predictable service intervals, a convenient schedule, and modern vehicles and professional drivers.
Twenty modern, large-class buses will be deployed. They are equipped with climate control systems, charging slots for gadgets, and media panels. Their low floors make them comfortable for passengers with disabilities and parents with strollers.
The fare will depend on the distance. Passengers will need to swipe their transport card twice—once entering and exiting the bus. The fare will be 63 rubles with a Troika card and 64 rubles with a bank card.
Unlimited "Ediny" (Unified) Suburban Zone passes for 30, 90, or 365 days, and unlimited Suburban Zone passes for 30 and 90 days valid for students with the Muscovite Card, will be valid on these routes. Concessionary passengers will be able to travel free of charge with the Muscovite Card and the Moscow Region Resident Card.
Discounts for transfers to the metro and other routes are not available. For free transfers to other modes of Moscow transport, you can use the 30-, 90-, and 365-day "Unified" passes for the "Prigorod" zone. The "Strelka" card will not work.
You can purchase and top up your Troika card at Moscow Metro ticket offices and ticket vending machines. You can top it up online through the Moscow Metro or Moscow Transport mobile app, and then activate the remote top-up at any validator on board the bus.
Passengers will be informed about new standards for interregional routes between Moscow and the Moscow region.Electric buses have been launched on the express route from Moscow to Mytishchi.
By 2028, the Moscow public transportation system plans to integrate at least 30 percent of the current suburban ground transportation routes. This will improve passenger comfort on interregional routes and provide an additional impetus to the development of transport infrastructure in Moscow and the Moscow region. This work will include installing modern bus shelters, developing dedicated lanes, creating new and reconstructing existing transport hubs, and increasing the popularity of public transportation for daily travel between the Moscow region and Moscow.
